It’s all about
the cowboy hats

Our founding fathers

Our founding fathers

I won’t second-guess the acquittal of the Bundys and their fellow travelers. Yes, they did take over a public facility and held it by threatening to kill anybody who tried to interfere. Yes, they did trash the place to the tune of about $1.7 million. Yes, they did dig a 50-foot trench through a protected area so they’d have a place to shit.

Yes, they did grievously abuse social media by posting way too many maudlin and meandering calls for violent confrontation — to the extent that one of their more gullible brethren got himself killed. And yes, they did stalk and threaten a number of Oregon residents who weren’t sufficiently enthusiastic about the idea of civil war.

But I wasn’t at the trial and I’m sure the jury had its reasons. Anyway, we can’t forget that these are white folks with folksy accents and late-model pickup trucks — the very people who can never get a break from the fascist Obama regime.

For them, this ain’t America no more: There are way too many immigrants. The government owns way too much land, just like the Indians used to. Time to take it all back. Out west, you get things done at the point of a gun. One wildlife refuge at a time.

And so the Bundys may soon walk among us again. Hallelujah. With this verdict, I think we’ve all learned a valuable lesson: Give a white man a weapon and a cowboy hat and he can pretty much do as he pleases. Yes, Obama’s a lawless dictator, but certain Americans can still get away with quite a bit.

Duly noted. I wonder if these patriots appreciate the irony of being acquitted by the same oppressive system they’d love to destroy. Probably not. Even after the verdict, I see they’re still talking about “restoring” the Constitution. Can’t wait to see how that plays out next time around.

Are they actually being released? I thought there were other charges against them.

I’ll bet they’re already rounding up those Freemen boys and World Church of the Creator types for their next shindig. Insanity rules!

You’d think acquittal might neutralize the martyr card. But no!
