The picture is of Old Faithful Inn. In back is Old Faithful Geyser. Sept. 18, 1870 members of the Washburn-Langford Doane Expedition traveled down the Firehole River and entered the Upper Geyser Basin. The first geyser they saw was Old Faithful. It was named this because at regular intervals it would spout—thus the name.
