Once again, the Miss America pageant has come and gone, and once again I’ve become aware of it only after the fact. But I am now monitoring the story on Tweetdeck have been able to glean the essential facts: Apparently, a beautiful young woman won it. This is huge. It’s certain to break down the barriers for other beautiful young women competing in beauty contests. Why this didn’t get more prominent play in the lamestream media, I have no idea.
It gets more interesting: The young woman in question is blond. She comes from a well known state. Also, she is concerned about eating disorders, plays the piano and wants to be a lawyer, a judge and a politician. After becoming a politician, she would like her own reality show on TLC. She didn’t say she’d like to work with old people and retards, but at this point nothing would surprise me. The world as we know it is changing. I can’t wait to see what Time does with this.
The story’s still unfolding, but I would like to take time from blogging to salute the Miss America Organization, which has been handing out millions in cash and scholarship assistance to pretty women for quite a few years now. Kudos. Yes, it’s the one demographic in the world that can get by on a smile, but they can always use a little extra help.
You forgot to mention world peace.
With a few tweaks, this would be perfect for The Onion.
