I‘m unable to open the middle drawer where I keep all the crap I’m too indecisive to throw out. The reason: I just deposited another phone book in there.
I get these things about once a week. There’s the Yellowbook, and then there’s the Real Yellow Pages. They have quite a bit in common. They’re both yellow, and they’re both useless. The new Yellowbook is also now thick enough to stop a high velocity bullet.
The problem is that it’s too thick to fit in the drawer. Which means I’m going to have to get all cynical about this and start putting these things in the trash bin without the interim step of putting them in the drawer. I hate to do it. Seems a waste of good paper at a time when it seems particularly wrong to waste anything.
A lot of cities have recycling centers that will recycle unwanted phone books. It’s really a win-win.
Yes, you’re right. But the fuel consumed driving my Subaru the eight or so miles to the recycling center would probably negate the green benefits of recycling 30 pounds of phonebooks.
