I’m off to liberate Paris

September 21, 2007 by Dave Knadler

I’m not sure anyone will notice, but I shan’t (as Maxine would say) be blogging for awhile. The brunette and I are off to Paris, where I will attempt to mend relations between our two great countries and consume more French wine than is strictly necessary.

Adieu. I’ll post a comprehensive discourse on the state of French crime fiction (and French wine) when I return. Or maybe I’ll just steal something off Peter’s site. Evidently, this Fred Vargas has written a book or two…

More along these lines:

  • Nothing like Paris
  • A morning without powerA morning without power
  • A few notes on ParisA few notes on Paris

About Dave Knadler

Obscure writer. Lazy photographer. Bashful guitarist. Perhaps too fond of wine. Tireless nemesis of New York Times crosswords.

There are Internet cafés in Paris, mon ami.

    Bon voyage.

(The word verfication for this comment is leguf, which sounds as if it should be French but is not.)

Leguf indeed! Actually, now that you mention it, I probably will attempt a post or two from Paris. I’m told our hotel has free Internet.

I just didn’t want to be burdened with the laptop.

You made the only correct decision. Only an anhedonic nerd would bring a laptop on vacation. But, fortunately or not, I have been able to blog from several countries.

And now that’s it’s Sept. 21, my blog is a year old today!

Hmm, beef is boeuf in French, and vegetables are legumes, so leguf must be a balanced diet.

I too will notice your absence. And if you spot the ghosts of Hemingway or Fitzgerald you will surely blog about it.

    Bon voyage.

Have a wonderful time. I just spent a few days in Padua (hence have not been…etc), and I will not bore you or Peter with my silly attempts to get hooked up to the internet there– suffice to say that they were, indeed, very silly (as well as unsuccessful, as were my attempts to wrestle with the Italian phone system.)
